Electrical Stimulation

The use of electrodes applied to the skin and stimulate your muscles to decrease pain, make muscles contract, or promote blood flow

During your initial visit with the PT, based on findings through assessment, electrical stimulation can be recommended to address your needs

Benefits include:

Decreasing acute or chronic pain
Strengthen muscles by contracting them
Preventing muscle atrophy
Improve endurance
Restore function

Electrical stimulation should never be used with:

Cardiac pacemakers
Spinal stimulators
Most implanted heart monitors
Placement over carotid sinus
Pregnancy- over or around the abdomen or lower back
Malignant tumors or active cancers
